Week #52 - August 25th, 2015 - SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY & 1 YEAR MARK

Hello!!!!!
SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!
20th Birthday!
First off Thank you for all the BIRTHDAY WISHES! It means alot to me... I feel so loved. I have the best family and friends. (:  I am 20 now.... ewww I feel old. And I have been out for a year.... thats even scarier. I hope that rest of the time goes by super slow because there of work to be done and stuff I need to learn!

1 Nephi 4:6 "And I was led by the spirit, not knowing before hand the things which I should do." This was pretty much the theme of our week. Sister Eging and I have made it a goal to act on every prompting we receive, so God can trust us with his children and lead us to those who are elect and we may be able to recognize them. We saw many miracles as we focused on this, we talked to people we might have not in the first place. As missionaries we are nothing without the spirit. We must have it with us at all times, and if we act on even the tiniest promptings we will be effective instruments in his hands bringing souls unto him. Not every prompting is fruitful or makes sense, but it is how we build trust with our father in heaven. We listen and obey out of love not because we expect blessings.
MIRACLE!!!! Carlos texted us this morning and told us his whole family of 7 is planning to be baptized all together, and are doing the discussions as a whole family!!!!! They have set a date in september! Sister Eging and I were freaking out!!!! A tear was even shed. They will one day make it to the temple and be sealed. We are so
Sister Missionaries
know how to throw a party!
so so excited for them. This is my joy as a missionary, seeing people change and come to know their Savior, and I am so blessed just to be an instrument.
Alma 29:9 "know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and glory in it. do not glory of myself, but glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me;yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy. "
So Sister Eging and I didn't have roommates assigned so Sister Worthen (from New Zealand) and Sister Bartell (from Wisconsin) got permission to move in. Basically its a party. We moved all the beds into one room. Living with your best friends is great. Sister Worthen is in her last transfer and since we never got to be companions this is the next best thing! Love her so much!

The Gleason's &
Sister Sughroue
Sunday was my birthday! Such a good one! Elder Clarke from the Seventy came and spoke in sacrament meeting.... so amazing! We had cake at lunch with sisters! Then I saw the Gleasons right before I went home for dinner time to make cupcakes with my roommates. But when I got home I was SURPRISED with all my best friends and sisters I love so much!!!!!! I was so shocked! They decorated the apartment with the stuff mom sent (good one mom, the silly string was a hit). Made yummy breakfast for dinner and desserts. It was a rager. glow sticks and balloons everywhere with EFY music playing. hahahahaha. I just have been so blessed with life long friends here! My roommates and companion worked it all out!
Much love,
Sister Sughroue

Week #51 - August 18th, 2015 "BEST SURPRISE EVER!"

Sister Eging & Sister Sughroue
Hello (:
Karlie Surprised me!
(Karlie is my friend from
high school who got
baptized the day before
I got my mission call!)

We have Transfers tomorrow! Sister Eging and I are staying
together to finish up training! YAYYYY! Love her so much we just have
a blast together, work hard and see miracles all the time!
Our new assignment is "west gate" we basically are in charge of tours
and scheduling and texting it all out to the mission... kind of hard
to explain. We will both be new at this assignment, now I've served in
every assignment! I will miss the Beehive house because it was so much
fun giving tours and putting to rest all the crazy rumors people hear
about us. hahaha We still have tuesday P DAY.

Our investigators are making progress. All on their way to baptism.
Doris gets baptized!

We are planning for 4 to be baptized this transfer and we know they
can make it! One is on date for July 5th and we couldn't be happier
for her, she has come a long way and is now ready to make this
commitment(:

On Saturday I got permission to go to dinner with Sister Casas and
Hannah Nolen from my ward back home! We went to the Garden and I tried
Sister Casas, Hannah Nolen
& Sister Sughroue

Fried Pickles for the first time! Super yummy! Sister Casas was our
young womens leader so it was fun to catch up, and see how much all of
us have grown! Yesterday we were sitting in the food court and I hear
some one call my name, look behind and its KARLIE KELLY! Best surprise
ever!!!! Ahhhh I missed her! Tyler came with her and we were able to
show her around temple square, which is very special because it was
her fu! So blessed to have friends like that in my life!

That's pretty much sums up the week! Hope you have a good one!

Love you!
Sister Sughroue

Week #50 - August 11th, 2015

Hello (:

This week Sister Eging and I found a sweet spot on temple square.... the Priesthood statues, the best. We just linger around there and then ask people if they would like us to tell them the "history" of this statue...bam gotcha, we teach the restoration. A great way to find new investigators!

Our people are doing good, 4 of our investigators went to church this past week... some having been going to church forever but they just need to resolve some concerns and committ to baptism. A great lesson in patience and love, they will get there(:  MIRACLE THIS WEEK: Carlos finally met the local missionaries.... wait it gets better... His Wife and 5 children (all over the age of 8) are starting lessons with them too! Most of his kids went to church with him this past week and loved it, they will be going back! Ahhhh helping families is the best! We are praying they will all be able to enter the waters of baptism together (:

On top of the Conference Center!
Mask Party! We have to look our best
at all times, according to Abby Fox!
At the Cemetery!
This week I got to go on exchange with Sister Skaggs because she is my district leader.... aka sleep over! So much fun! Learned alot from her because she is such an awesome missionary. This last Pday we did a Zone Scavenger hunt all over Salt Lake City. We went up to the Capitol, Ensign Peak, the cemetery where all the prophets and prominent church leaders are burried, and some more places. We had to serve someone everywhere we went. We were at this park and looking for someone to serve... I saw a wedding reception being set up across the street so we ran over and talked to the people outside asking if we can help with anything. They were members and thought it was awesome we wanted to help, so filled up the water and
The wedding reception
we helped set up
lit candles for them hahaha. The Bride was an RM and talked with us for a bit! Later  we went back to eat dinner and have a spiritual meeting. Sister Eging, Sister Chazen (from south africa) and I were asked to do the musical number. So we made up a rap about prophets.... don't worry the Zone leaders knew... it was suprise to everyone else though hahaha. We all worked together to make it up during the week. Just using the talents God gave us to share the gospel in unique ways.... we need to get it approved by president to rap in the Tab... what a dream. just kidding.  I'll include it at the end and try to send the video. (The video is posted on Facebook) Ignore how awkward I am... White and a missionary should explain that.

That pretty much sums up the week. The work is progressing here at Temple Square. Next week is transfers, we are pretty positive I will stay with Sister Eging to finish training, and I love her so much and we have a lot of more work to do to help the people we are teaching.

Have a great week!
Much love,
Sister Sughroue

P.S.  awkward/ super funny moment. We were serving in beehive and a wedding reception was going on behind at the lion
Sister Skaggs & I decide
to crash the wedding!
house. which is always weird because we can see the whole thing and the blasting music is heard as we give tours but anyways. We were trying to figure out a way how we could get cake as we creeped out the back window, so depserate. Then I realized the groom was in my ward at BYU I and I knew him hahahaha so weird. Only when your serving at Temple Square. We still didn't get any cake.

Sister Eging wrote this below: "Then. Came. The. Rap.
Never had anyone seen such a rap performed. They had only heard of it. But that day we did the impossible. We rapped of the prophets. Enclosed is a video of said rap lyrics:

You know Moses and Noah
Abraham too
All prophets of God
but what did they do?
Received revelation for the church here on Earth
prophecyn of Christ
His death and His birth
prophets say what say what x2
So Christ came down spread the word
gave his apostles
THE PRIESTHOOD
to act and teach, baptize in His name
but the people rejected
and Earth wasn't the same
prophets x2 You get the gist
My man J Smith was so confused
What happened to the priesthood?
why was it removed?
So he knelt down on his knees to pray
to Heavenly beings appeared in a ray
OF LIGHT and said to him
no, none of the churches are true,
but we can know for ourselves in the Book that is Blue
Prophet uh huh
So we up here on the square
preachin the gospel makin people aware
That GOD STILL CARES
we stand in the tab(ernacle)  to testify
that prophets are back to lead and guide
wait hold up you have a question?
No. My dad doesn't have thirty wives.

PROPHETS

Bam.
You could say it was a hit. Especially after other sisters had just shared the spiritual thought.
But its all good. The Sisters recovered. At first it was mostly shock but I think once they got used to the idea of white mormon girls rapping it was smooth sailing."

Week #49 - August 4th, 2015

Hello!!! (:
Just had to actually see the Great Salt Lake!

Well the highlight of this week definitely was seeing MOM and MAKAYLA! It was so good to see them on Friday, I showed them around and then we went to cheesecake factory for dinner.... yummmm. Everyone was so excited to meet the family,
Mom & Makayla came
For their formal
Visit!
and thought makayla was my older sister.... whatttt no hahaha. It was surreal to them, it felt like almost a dream.... I woke up the next day and went back to normal mission like like it never happened hahaha. But I am so glad it was real! I am so blessed to have such an awesome  family!

This past week we had Zone Conference on Wednesday! It was focused on the Sermon on the Mount, we studied it during the week for preparation and I learned so much! And was able to use it to teach people that week which was awesome! Sister Eging, a few other sisters, and I sung the musical number at zone conference, "Stand in holy places" A sister put it together and it was beautiful.

Announcing after
Music & The Spoken Word
This week our people went to church!!!!! YAYYYY! finally we got them to go! Carlos has been to church twice.... we just need the local missionaries to get on it ASAP because he is so ready to be baptized and we can only do so much from out here.It is hard when we can't communicate with the local missionaries, but we are just praying and doing our part. He even found a job opportunity out here in SLC and might make the move out here with his family! Marie and Shaun also went to church and Enjoyed it! Shaun is down in San Diego and is suppose to go to the Mormon Batallion with the missionaries, he is so prepared.... hopefully he runs into sister Vasi down there! We have had a successful week with finding and teaching solid lessons to solid people. We met our goal this past week with finding 6 new awesome people to teach, the Lord provides as long as we are diligent and obedient!

Hanging out with
my favorite Russian
Sister Bruzgina
Sister Eging called this past week the Manna from Heaven week, we seriously were running low on food and money but free food and meals provided always popped up randomly! I was telling her the Lord can't let his faithful servants starve! hahaha

This week I learned an important life lesson. That public water features are nasty.... as we were walking to the Beehive a homeless guy with some sweet dredds was washing up in the fountain. ewwww. Little kids put there hands in there! hahaha I couldn't stop laughing after we walked away, then called security. Do not touch public water fountains, the coins aren't worth it.

The Great Salt Lake

Just a reminder to everyone to SMILE(: 2 Nephi 9:39
"O, my beloved brethren, remember the awfulness in transgressing against that Holy God, and also the awfulness of yielding to the enticings of that cunning one. Remember, to be carnally-minded is death, and to be Spiritually-Minded ILife Eternal."

Have a amazing week!

Week #48 - July 28th, 2015 "I WILL SURVIVE!"

Crazy Sister's keeping me form
going crazy from being sick!
Thanks Dad!
I survived a week down with strep throat! Weird thats what the blood results came back saying even though that was not what anyone though it was. I feel alot better now, after being on meds! I spent pretty much the whole week at home with another Sickyyy, Sister Sami from Fiji. She is hilarious, and laughter is the best medicine so that helped. My days consisted of sleeping, studying and watching 17 miracles too many times. hahaha. Sister Eging was on exhange with our zone leaders all week, it was sad not being able to work. I really missed being on the square and wanted to work, but now I am healthy and am back in the swing of things.

The Johnsons saved the day and dropped off soup, fruit and lots of good stuff! They are awesome! So grateful!  The flowers Dad sent me in the mail brightened my day!  All the sisters saw a box with flowers and my name on it and of coarse they started freaking out that it was from a boy hahaha ummm no. Speaking of flowers this morning Sister Eging and I were walking to the square, we passed a mentally ill/homeless man on the street he stopped us then pulled a flowers out of the ground gave one to each of us... I was so flattered but then he asked for spare change in return for the flower hahahaha. I  then started to run to the square, we kept the flowers.
Pioneer Day Parade!
Graff Family
Grandma & Grandpa
Pulsipher
On Friday I went to the Pioneer Parade in the morning and back home in the afternoon. I never realized how big of deal it was here in Utah! For good reason too! Our amazing Pioneers deserve a day of remembrance, they had so much faith and sacrificed everything for the gospel. Special to be here at Temple Square and being constantly reminded of their hard work in faith by seeing the Temple and buildings everyday. Words can't express how grateful I am for my ancestors and their testimonies. At the Parade we sat right next to Elder and Sister Perkins of the seventy who just recently spoke to the mission when I was in Virginia. It was fun to chat with them and we took a picture for them to send to the Wilsons! Saturday was my first day back on the square! I saw the Graffs and Sister Eging and I were glad to be reunited! It felt good to be back at work again and talking with people. Sunday I got Surprise visit from Grandma and Grandpa Pulsipher! It
Edler & Sister Perkins
was so good to see them!

The Lord still blessed us with much success this week, despite being gone for most of it. We were a powerhouse as soon as I got back and saw his hand in our work. Sunday night, we had 10 min before we needed to leave the square and we were determined to accomplish our goal of tours on the square for that day. We knew God would put someone in our path, we started to walk across the Square and we met Elizabeth (young girl in 20's) taking pictures of the Temple. We talked with her quickly found out she wasn't religious at all but saw the temple from her hotel and wanted to check it out. We set up a time to meet on monday to give her  a tour. We had a very spiritual tour, focusing on the Savior the whole time. She had never thought before that he died for her.... She said it was like He has always been there right by her but she never knew till now. She wants to know more about him, and how following him will bless her life. I was almost in tears of joy. She felt the spirit, she left now knowing that Jesus Christ is her Savior and has a desire to know him.  This is our purpose as missionaries. Nothing more rewarding in life then helping someone come closer to Christ. I love being a representative of Jesus Christ.
Music & The Spoken Word
With watching 17 miracles many times this week, this quote from a pioneer women crossing the plains is included in it and is so powerful, "I have pulled my handcart when I was so weak and weary from illness and lack of food that I could hardly put one foot ahead of the other. I have looked ahead and seen a patch of sand or a hill slope and I have said, I can go only that far and there I must give up, for I cannot pull the load through it.” [And a wife with a baby in her arms by his side!] “I have gone on to that sand and when I reached it, the cart began pushing me. I have looked back many times to see who was pushing my cart, but my eyes saw no one. I knew then that the angels of God were there.“Was I sorry that I chose to come by handcart? No. Neither then nor any minute of my life since. The price we paid to become acquainted with God was a privilege to pay, and I am thankful that I was privileged to come in the Martin Handcart Company.” [“Pioneer Women,” Relief Society Magazine, January 1948, p. 8]
I know God is by our side, always helping us along the way. Thinking of what they went through, is humbling knowing I
Sister Eging Passed Off
all her tours for the Square...
now for dinner at the
Lion House!
have sacrificed so little compared to them. There steadfast faith will always be an example and a reason to me to keep moving forward. Times of trial make us rely on God and realize sometimes all we have to hold on to is our faith. I am grateful for the time I have had on my mission to become acquainted with God.
With love,
Sister Sughroue

Week #47 - July 21st, 2015 "STAYING ALIVE"

Sister Eging
Hello sooooo I Got lots of Good news and some blehhh news, so we will start with the blehh and end on a good note! (:
It was a rough weekend, I started to get sick on saturday and slept all day Sunday until they got me into the doctors monday. My throat was swollen and ear ached on my left side, I couldn't even swallow my spit,  and I had to force my self to drink water which hurt so bad I cried like a baby. hahaa so Sister Skaggs took me to the Doctor. I had a 102 fever and they took my blood to test me for a few different things, it is some type of bacterial infection. They have me on Antibiotics and a ton of Ibuprofin. Doctor wrote Sister Poulsen saying I can not work at all for a week and have to stay off the Square and home. President Poulsen and Elder Richardson gave me a priesthood blessing of healing. Sister Skaggs got my medicine and went to the store to get me soup and ice cream, she is the best <3 I am being taken care of. I feel better today after being on the medicine and receiving the blessing, hoping I heal fast so I don't die of boredom being stuck in my apartment for a week, I have just been studying and napping. Sister Eging will be on exchange with our Zone leaders all week and they take turns to come be with me or they stick the sick sisters in my apartment so they can go on square. I feel bad I can't be there with my companion especially that she is training but she is so great and is taking good care of our people.
NOW FOR THE GOODNEWS, the Lord has blessed us with 6 new investigators this week to teach!!!! Every time we found a new one, I looked at Sister Eging and would say GOD IS GOOD HE LOVES US!  We found all these amazing people on the square just contacting people. Each contact was so powerful and had something unique and special about them. I wish I could explain them all in detail but I will give a brief explanation on a few! One engaged couple who was here for vacation, we took them to Gods plan and they were crying because they were so touched, the mans Dad passed away 2 weeks ago and he really wants to know more if he will be able to see him again. They texted us a few days later saying they decided they wanted to move to SLC and were looking for houses along with planning to go to an LDS church very soon. They are coming back to the square this week and hopefully my companion will be able to meet up with them! Another tender experience was when
Temple Square sunsets
are incredible!
Larry and his wife walked into the South VC and I said hello, I asked if he was familiar with our beliefs and he said,"No but can you sit down with me and tell me" So i sat down with them and taught them the restoration. When he heard the 1st vision, he felt the spirit so strongly his eyes started to lighten up. I gave him a Book of Mormon and he insisted on paying me for it, when I told him it was free he was sooo grateful. He knew how precious this Book was, he was so touched he reassured us he would read it and he really wanted to learn more of what we shared. He was just filled with the light of Christ.

This experience along with finishing the Book of Mormon this week reminded me how precious the Book of Mormon truly is. It is the keystone to our religion. It contains the fullness of the Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. It is a witness that God loves all his children and continues to call prophets. This past couple months reading it, I have come closer to my Savior. Understanding the role of his atonement in my life, and the lives of those I teach. I felt his love and gained a deeper understanding of him through each page. He knows me personally and is in the very detail of my life everyday. Our Heavenly Father is so eager to bless us as he was of the people in those days. It is precious.
I got 2 sweet surprises this week! On Friday Aunt Diann came with baby Josh and some of the girls! I finally got to meet him, o my goshhh he is sooo  stinkin cute! It was so good to see them! I freaked out when I got a text saying that she was here!  Such a sweet surprise. Then on Sunday, I saw Hayley for a little bit.... who is now engaged! O my goshhhh Where
Love my Fox Cousins and Aunt DiAnn!
did the time go, It feels like we were at stake dances being each others wingmans and bumping into the cute guys. lolz. Just photo shop Brooke, Jacquelyn and I into the wedding pictures!

We also got reassigned to Beehive House for a couple of days a week. The summer is so busy!
Welp That sums up my week! Hope everyone is loving life. This week I will be studying the Gospels in the New Testament and Jesus the Christ with all the free time I have!
Much love,
Sister Sughroue

Week #46 - July 14th, 2015

Sister Sughroue &
Sister Eging
Saying goodbye to
President & Sister Wilson
President Packer's
Funeral
Sister Sughroue &
Sister Skaggs
Hello!
I am back at Temple Square! So great to see the Temple everyday again, its so beautiful! Filled with  Asians, selfie sticks and chinese men creeping up behind us to take pictures with the blonde americans hahaha.  With my new Companion Sister Eging, straight out of the MTC!!!! Full of that Greenie Fire! She is from Centerville Virginia which is pretty close Woodbridge where I was serving outbound. I should have just brought her back with me! hahaha. She is awesome and already an amazing missionary, I feel so blessed to be her Trainer! She went to BYU provo for a year before, is so much fun and hard working! We are going to have a great time together and have already seen many miracles. I am in the East 1 Zone and Sister Skaggs (from Temecula)  is my District Leader hahaha! Crazyyyy i just keep following her in the mission! When I introduced my self in District Meeting I said "Hi Im Sister Sughroue from Temecula and I went to the better Highschool" hahahaha. I've only been back on the square for a week and have already run into 2 families I know from home...... I think serving in Virginia was the longest break I was going to get from that. hahah Just kidding I love it!
Last week on Tuesday I went on a short Exchange  with sister Ketchum my Sister Training Leader before I left for Richmond. It was fun we taught some lessons and just got to soak in my last few hours in Woodbridge! Then a Senior couple drove me down to the mission home where we had interviews with President Wilson and a small Testimony meeting. I am going to miss the Wilsons so much, They are so amazing!!!! We spent the night there and left in the morning for the airport, our flight was suppose to leave at 9:35am but was delayed till about 1pm and then our layover was pushed back.... so we basically spent the whole day in the airport. Finally got into SLC around 7. Sister Polanco and Worthen surprised me by picking me up at the airport (I was suppose to take the trax back) and I screamed I was so excited! It was funny there was a big group of missionaries going home with their families cheering and crying and I just ran over to my favorite sisters and screamed hahah! O and Quintin L. Cook was riding first class in my flight! I walked by and said Hi like 3 times but he didn't hear me because he was talking to his wife.... fail. anyways it was still cool to see him! He was wearing a goofy hat, probably to try to disguise himself. hahaha. Anyways got back to Temple Square and met my new companion Sister Eging!!!! And was just greeted by all the amazing sisters here... its like a Temple Square family!
On Friday we got tickets to the Funeral of Boyd K. Packer. It was a very special experience
to be there and hear the words of his family and our beloved Prophet. The spirit was so strong as we remembered this
Brighton's Girls Camp
loved man and the life he dedicated in the service of our God. We sat on the balcony right up by the Choir so we were really close to the Prophet. Right after that we all changed into Jeans and got on a bus heading to Brighton Girls Camp! We got to go so all the international Sisters could experience girls camp activities! So we repelled, and Zip lined and did bonding activities it was so much fun!
Being back from outbound with a new Greenie we basically had no teaching pool but we saw great miracles this week. On Saturday we set a goal to find 3 solid new investigators, we set out with faith and prayed all day we could accomplish this and we did! One was a couple and the other was a young man whose girlfriend is a member! Which is perfectttt.  Then on Sunday right before music and the spoken word we met Carlos. He basically just fell into our hands, he asked us if he could give us all his information! That never happens! He use to meet with missionaries years ago, and after coming to Temple Square felt the spirit so strongly he knew he needed this. We are so excited to be teaching him!  Sunday some of my favorite Temple Square R.M.'s came back for a visit! (I'll send a picture)! Monday we spent
The Wallwork Family
most of the day covering in the Beehive house which was interesting because we don't serve there but they needed us so we did out best ahahaha. I learned alot! And we found an awesome family to teach who was just cried through out all of the Gods plan presentation, they were so touched that our Families can be together forever. How great is my calling! I love being a missionary!
Have a good week!
Much Love,
