Week #57 - September 28th, 2015 (Part 1)

Best Mission in the World!
Hello (:
Stained glass art from
the Church Hsitory Museum

Our Week started out pretty Good! We went to the Moore's for dinner last pday, they are a senior couple in the mission office and we are super tight with them. We relaxed around the BBQ, had Surf and Turf and dessert of coarse. They are our best friends, Sister Worthen goes home next week so we had to have a going away dinner :( ahhhh I am going to miss her!

This week Sister Eging and I saw some miracles on the tours we took! One was with Mike and Greg, two brothers who both had some previous contact with the church and Book of Mormons at home. We focused on the restoration through out the whole tour, the spirit was so strong at the end, that they were so touched by our testimonies and kept thanking us. The message of the Restoration if Key! So powerful! We plan to keep in touch with them and they want to meet with local missionaries.
We got to tour the Church history Museum before it opens up the public this week. It is amazing!!!! I highly recommend everyone to go. My testimony was strengthened from walking through those doors. It goes through and tells/ shows the history in such an inspiring way!

ummmm what else happened.... o yeah we found out Feather is a fake. We are still trying to sort out all the details between us and the local missionaries, mission presidents, and bishops. But she has been telling all of us completely different bizarre stories. We were mad at first when we found out but now I am just grateful we know so we can stop wasting time with her. It is so sad, that because we teach online people who have no lives, like to troll and waste our precious time. We were suspicious the past couple weeks something was up, and this week she was suppose to be baptized on saturday, but told us she didn't. And actually found out from the local missionaries she was, but they know her as a completely different person with a different story, living in a different state then what she told us. So we finally had to laugh at it, then got ice cream. Ice cream fixes everything.
On a more spiritual note, we were able to attend the Funeral of Elder Richard G. Scott. It was such a special experience. To hear his family, share about his life and what an amazing father, husband, friend and Servant of the Lord he was. It was very touching to hear from his fellow apostles, of the stories they told of him while serving together. He will be missed, but is now reunited with loved ones.
Conference is coming!!!! We are stoked! We get to go to one session, I am hoping I get
West 1 Zone
tickets for when they call the new apostles! It would be amazing to witness that!
We had transfer conference yesterday, but don't switch companions until tomorrow morning. Sister Eging and I were sad to be separated, but o well! My new companion is Sister Rodriguez from Argentina!!!! Wooohooo I love Latinas! tooo much fun! She has been out for 6 months! We are assigned to Guest Services, I am a District Leader and my Pday is Friday! Double Pday this week! You will hear from me shortly haha. I have to move apartments, not sure where yet.... haha. Lots of great things to come this next couple of months, the Lord never ceases to amaze me. He knows us perfectly.
Much Love,

Week #56 - September 22nd, 2015

Hello (:

Carlos & his family get baptized!
This morning I was studying Jacob 5, in the Book of Mormon. As I read, it really stood out to me how much the Lord loves all his children and literally grieves for us. He does everything he can to help us return to him. Being a missionary we are
Moses is Back!
now servants for the Lord in a part of his vineyard, we have been assigned to care for and do everything we can to care for it. I thought am I doing everything I can??? We are gathering Israel, this is the Lords work, diligence is key. I know I say all the time that serving a mission is the best thing ever, but it really is. You are able

to experience true joy! Jacob 5:75 "...And blessed art thou; for because ye have been diligent in laboring with me in my vineyard, and have kept my commandments, and have brought unto me again the natural fruit, that my vineyard is no more corrupted, and the bad is cast away, behold ye shall have joy with me because of the fruit of my vineyard." This week we had many experiences of great Joy with the Lord!

This week Carlos and his family were baptized!!! We weren't able to skype as planned
because difficulties..... the other mission President said no :( and we had to respect that. But we got over it! The most important thing is that they made this covenant with the Lord. We got pictures, and I was just overwhelmed with comfort, happiness, a lil tears! His whole family just glows with the spirit!

This we week we found in AFRICA. We have new investigators in Nigeria and Uganda. They both just straight up told us
Carlos & his family!
they want to join the church, we are calling them trying to help them get in touch with the nearest church and missionaries. Unfortunately one lives far away from any church, so we are unsure what we can do to help him! But the  Lord will take care of him.

Rumor has it, the Prophet gets peach pie and ice cream on Thursdays from the church office building Cafeteria. So naturally we took the tunnels their to get lunch in high hopes of seeing him. We even prayed that he would walk in as we were eating... it was time to go and still no prophet. On our way back through the tunnels, we walk straight into President Nelson, Elder Bednar, and Elder Rasband. I guess thats the second best thing to seing the prophet. They said Hi to us!!!! We were all american and had one new zealand, so nothing foreign enough to make them stop and talk. Next time we will plan it out better. hahaha just kidding(:

The Price's stopped by to say hi!
(After they told everyone on the Square
I was engaged to their son! - LOL)
This is my last week with Sister Eging, soooo sad! I am going to miss being with her! She has become such an amazing missionary, and I know she will continue to do great things. We have seen so many miracles together! Transfers are on the 30th!

Sums up my week, hope you all had a good one!
MUCH LOVE,

Week #55 - September 15th, 2015

HELLO (:

Sister Sughroue & her cute little
companion, Sister Eging
There are many perks from serving on Temple Square. Especially when President Russell M. Nelson randomly has his secretary call our Mission President and says he would like to come speak to us that day. So on Friday we had a surprise visit from an apostle of the Lord. The AP's found out at 8 am and we met at 10 am  as a whole mission. The senior couples manned the square and we just trusted the Lord would take care of all the visitors. It was a special experience the first thing he wanted to do was shake all of our hands. He looked at all the Sisters from around the world and said it was heaven hahaha. He spoke alot about the tribes of israel and our lineage.

He said, "That the Book of Mormon is the instrument for the gathering of Israel... So you learn the Book of Mormon". I wish I could just send you all my notes that I wrote, it was an incredibly spiritual experience. Something he said was that the Lord likes an unlikely Scenario. Think of Joseph Smith and the gospel being restored! No place or people were ready until the year 1830 for the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He shared his testimony of how he came to know the Book of Mormon was true, while he visited the sacred site where the

plates once laid. He also said that the churchs top of the line translators can do about 1 page a day, but Joseph Smith with little education and in the 1800's was able to do 6-8 pages a day, because he was a prophet of God. So amazing to see he was filled with that power and authority to complete this task.  At the end he opened it up to Q and A. He was speaking about the great opuurtunity we have to serve in so many callings in the church and he said, " Be grateful for that, I have to die to get released. " hahaha He is a funny man. (:
My Mom's cousin, Randy,
stopped by!

On Sunday we spoke in a ward. There was 4 of us sisters total, me, Sister Eging, Sister Bartell and Sister Worthen (our roommates). We all got to pick a topic to speak about. I spoke on becoming Converted vs. having a testimony. Being a missionary has definitely made it easier to give talks. As i was studying this topic I came across a talk by Elder Bednar, "Converted unto the Lord"  READ IT.  Elder Bednar said something that really stood out to me, " Testimony is the beginning of and a prerequisite to continuing conversion. Testimony is a point of departure; it is not an ultimate destination. Strong testimony is the foundation upon which conversion is established." We should constantly be striving to become more like our Savior and align our will with his, this is conversion. It is a lifetime process, but we become one with the Lord along the way.  We all sang a musical number as well. It was rendition of home ward bound, and Joseph Smiths First Prayer.... about 5 people cried so I guess they

liked it. (:
The square is slowing down but the work isn't! Carlos and his family are getting baptized on Saturday. Feather is also getting baptized too! We are so excited for them! We met an awesome man on the square, he was on his way up to BYU as a non member, we are excited to share more with him about the gospel! (:
Much Love,

Read the talk by Elder Bednar, Alma 23. (The Anti-Nephi-Lehis are a great example to us of becoming converted)

Week #54 - September 8th, 2015

Sister Sughroue & Sister Worthen
from new Zealand
Hello!!!!
I would first like to point out that the reason BYU won the game was because Sister Eging and I prayed really hard. Your welcome Adam. Our investigator we have been trying to get to meet with the local missionaries for a while now texted us Saturday morning and said, "I'll text the local missionaries if BYU beats Nebraska" We were laughing, and knew she was serious and we had faith our prayers would be answered.... we were specific. This was a miracle. And she met with the missionaries this week. THE POWER OF PRAYER IS REAL.
Evelyn from my outbound in Woodbridge, VA was baptized on Saturday. We got to skype in and talk with her!!!! I said hi to Sister Kellogg and all my favorite members. It was a special experience to watch her enter the waters of baptism and see how far she has come. The spirit was so strong and I got kind of teary eyed as I reflected on the first time we knocked on her door, all her lessons and prayers we said for her. She was glowing and just so happy!!!! Thank goodness for technology.  We are excited for the 19th Carlos and his family, and Feather will be getting baptized then!
Skyping Evelyn's Baptism
in Virgina!

I am just full of JOY! I love my mission so much, not everyday is easy, nor is talking to antis fun but it is well worth it. The people I have met and continue to meet, change me. This is the happiest I have been and I know its because I am walking side by side with my Savior. Doing his work, his way.
Sister Sughroue & Sister Eging
Present the Mission 5k Challenge!
We finalized the plans for the mission 5k it is on October 24th. We presented it during Relief Society and the mission was all excited. Since then the number of sisters running at the highschool track in the morning has tripled or more.... we are all getting "more fit for the kingdom".

At Temple Square we are bound to have crazies that come on.... security seemed to be our best friend this week. We got em on speed dial. Sister Bequette and I were on exchange sunday morning and walked up the Christus and saw a lady in a grey sweats and shirt, no shoes, crosses drawn with markers on her hands and feet walking circles around the christus. Sweet some excitement... because the square has been slower lately. A senior Couple told us she went 33 times around one way and then started to go the other.... so we decided to go talk to her, when we approached she ran away. Then security came and she ran through the building and out the gates from them....
Sister Kellogg &
Evelyn at her baptism!
hahahaha never a dull moment here.

Today was sister Bequettes Birthday so we surprised her with Breakfast. Then President Poulsens Birthday is tomorrow so
Sister Palonco is so mean! LOL
Sisters made over 450 cupcakes and we put them all together and surprised him in the front of his office!
Have an amazing week!

Week #53 - September 1st, 2015

Hello(:
Sister Eging & Sister Sughroue
We Love Peanut Butter
The Square is starting to slow down as it is the end of summer.... so sad. I am going to miss the crazy tourists, giving motor coach tours and all the Asians taking pictures with us.

I feel like every week is full of surprises, and they just get better and better. This week I called Evelyn my investigator from outbound and found out she is getting baptized on the 5th this Saturday! This is a tracting miracle! It all started on a long day of tracting when Sister Kellogg and I knocked at her door! I will be skyping her baptism on Saturday(: YAYYY! I also ran into the Henriksons this week and we went to lunch! They are so sweet, my trek ma and pa!
The people we are teaching are getting closer to baptism! Carlos and his family are continuing to prepare for a week from Saturday! This week we were blessed with meeting a few new people as well, as we have been focusing on following the promptings of the spirit we have truly been led to the elect who are prepared and ready.
Sister Smith & Sister Sughroue
On Sunday morning we walked into church at 7:20am and sat right down as usual.... then we freaked out when we realized that Quintin L. Cook, an Apostle of the Lord was sitting on the stand!!!! He had meetings all day long and our Ward is the earliest so he wanted to come see the Sisters! He spoke at the end of the meeting and after shook all our hands. He spoke to us of how the apostles assign mission calls and he said, "Special, special sisters come to Temple Square, because we feel they will accomplish great things."  He continued to go on and say that, "You are the message" That on temple square we are on front lines and represent the church, how we act, what we say, how we make people feel is all apart of the message we share. That is true no matter where you serve in the world, we all are representatives of the Savior. And are send forth to find those who he has prepared for us. And I know every mission call is divinely inspired. He also pointed out that as missionaries we face rejection, but "You Succeed when you invite, regardless of the outcome, you accomplish what you should do"  We were richly fed by his words, the spirit was so strong and I left spiritually stronger than I came.
So my outbound Virginia Richmond Mission is doing a 5k run  and I asked President Poulsen if we can do one at Temple Square. Sister Eging and I have been meeting with him and the AP's to make this happen.... its gonna be epic. Stay tuned for more details next week!!!!! (:
The Book of Mormon is awesome! I could go on forever of why I love this chapter but I just a short thought... In Mosiah 24 Amulon is persecuting Alma and his people, as they were in time of trial they poured their hearts out to the Lord, they hear the voice of the Lord, and are reassured he loves them. He remembers the covenants they have made, and because of that will deliver them. As we keep our covenants, we are promised blessings from the Lord. This is what gives me so much hope on my mission and in life. That as I continue to do everything he has asked, I have his promise. He is by our side, he knows us, he loves us.
 Mosiah 24: 13-15 "
13
And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of
My Ma & Pa from Stake Trek

good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.

14 And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.
15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord."
Much Love,
