Week #48 - July 28th, 2015 "I WILL SURVIVE!"

Crazy Sister's keeping me form
going crazy from being sick!
Thanks Dad!
I survived a week down with strep throat! Weird thats what the blood results came back saying even though that was not what anyone though it was. I feel alot better now, after being on meds! I spent pretty much the whole week at home with another Sickyyy, Sister Sami from Fiji. She is hilarious, and laughter is the best medicine so that helped. My days consisted of sleeping, studying and watching 17 miracles too many times. hahaha. Sister Eging was on exhange with our zone leaders all week, it was sad not being able to work. I really missed being on the square and wanted to work, but now I am healthy and am back in the swing of things.

The Johnsons saved the day and dropped off soup, fruit and lots of good stuff! They are awesome! So grateful!  The flowers Dad sent me in the mail brightened my day!  All the sisters saw a box with flowers and my name on it and of coarse they started freaking out that it was from a boy hahaha ummm no. Speaking of flowers this morning Sister Eging and I were walking to the square, we passed a mentally ill/homeless man on the street he stopped us then pulled a flowers out of the ground gave one to each of us... I was so flattered but then he asked for spare change in return for the flower hahahaha. I  then started to run to the square, we kept the flowers.
Pioneer Day Parade!
Graff Family
Grandma & Grandpa
Pulsipher
On Friday I went to the Pioneer Parade in the morning and back home in the afternoon. I never realized how big of deal it was here in Utah! For good reason too! Our amazing Pioneers deserve a day of remembrance, they had so much faith and sacrificed everything for the gospel. Special to be here at Temple Square and being constantly reminded of their hard work in faith by seeing the Temple and buildings everyday. Words can't express how grateful I am for my ancestors and their testimonies. At the Parade we sat right next to Elder and Sister Perkins of the seventy who just recently spoke to the mission when I was in Virginia. It was fun to chat with them and we took a picture for them to send to the Wilsons! Saturday was my first day back on the square! I saw the Graffs and Sister Eging and I were glad to be reunited! It felt good to be back at work again and talking with people. Sunday I got Surprise visit from Grandma and Grandpa Pulsipher! It
Edler & Sister Perkins
was so good to see them!

The Lord still blessed us with much success this week, despite being gone for most of it. We were a powerhouse as soon as I got back and saw his hand in our work. Sunday night, we had 10 min before we needed to leave the square and we were determined to accomplish our goal of tours on the square for that day. We knew God would put someone in our path, we started to walk across the Square and we met Elizabeth (young girl in 20's) taking pictures of the Temple. We talked with her quickly found out she wasn't religious at all but saw the temple from her hotel and wanted to check it out. We set up a time to meet on monday to give her  a tour. We had a very spiritual tour, focusing on the Savior the whole time. She had never thought before that he died for her.... She said it was like He has always been there right by her but she never knew till now. She wants to know more about him, and how following him will bless her life. I was almost in tears of joy. She felt the spirit, she left now knowing that Jesus Christ is her Savior and has a desire to know him.  This is our purpose as missionaries. Nothing more rewarding in life then helping someone come closer to Christ. I love being a representative of Jesus Christ.
Music & The Spoken Word
With watching 17 miracles many times this week, this quote from a pioneer women crossing the plains is included in it and is so powerful, "I have pulled my handcart when I was so weak and weary from illness and lack of food that I could hardly put one foot ahead of the other. I have looked ahead and seen a patch of sand or a hill slope and I have said, I can go only that far and there I must give up, for I cannot pull the load through it.” [And a wife with a baby in her arms by his side!] “I have gone on to that sand and when I reached it, the cart began pushing me. I have looked back many times to see who was pushing my cart, but my eyes saw no one. I knew then that the angels of God were there.“Was I sorry that I chose to come by handcart? No. Neither then nor any minute of my life since. The price we paid to become acquainted with God was a privilege to pay, and I am thankful that I was privileged to come in the Martin Handcart Company.” [“Pioneer Women,” Relief Society Magazine, January 1948, p. 8]
I know God is by our side, always helping us along the way. Thinking of what they went through, is humbling knowing I
Sister Eging Passed Off
all her tours for the Square...
now for dinner at the
Lion House!
have sacrificed so little compared to them. There steadfast faith will always be an example and a reason to me to keep moving forward. Times of trial make us rely on God and realize sometimes all we have to hold on to is our faith. I am grateful for the time I have had on my mission to become acquainted with God.
With love,
Sister Sughroue

Sister Eging
Hello sooooo I Got lots of Good news and some blehhh news, so we will start with the blehh and end on a good note! (:
It was a rough weekend, I started to get sick on saturday and slept all day Sunday until they got me into the doctors monday. My throat was swollen and ear ached on my left side, I couldn't even swallow my spit,  and I had to force my self to drink water which hurt so bad I cried like a baby. hahaa so Sister Skaggs took me to the Doctor. I had a 102 fever and they took my blood to test me for a few different things, it is some type of bacterial infection. They have me on Antibiotics and a ton of Ibuprofin. Doctor wrote Sister Poulsen saying I can not work at all for a week and have to stay off the Square and home. President Poulsen and Elder Richardson gave me a priesthood blessing of healing. Sister Skaggs got my medicine and went to the store to get me soup and ice cream, she is the best <3 I am being taken care of. I feel better today after being on the medicine and receiving the blessing, hoping I heal fast so I don't die of boredom being stuck in my apartment for a week, I have just been studying and napping. Sister Eging will be on exchange with our Zone leaders all week and they take turns to come be with me or they stick the sick sisters in my apartment so they can go on square. I feel bad I can't be there with my companion especially that she is training but she is so great and is taking good care of our people.
NOW FOR THE GOODNEWS, the Lord has blessed us with 6 new investigators this week to teach!!!! Every time we found a new one, I looked at Sister Eging and would say GOD IS GOOD HE LOVES US!  We found all these amazing people on the square just contacting people. Each contact was so powerful and had something unique and special about them. I wish I could explain them all in detail but I will give a brief explanation on a few! One engaged couple who was here for vacation, we took them to Gods plan and they were crying because they were so touched, the mans Dad passed away 2 weeks ago and he really wants to know more if he will be able to see him again. They texted us a few days later saying they decided they wanted to move to SLC and were looking for houses along with planning to go to an LDS church very soon. They are coming back to the square this week and hopefully my companion will be able to meet up with them! Another tender experience was when
Temple Square sunsets
are incredible!
Larry and his wife walked into the South VC and I said hello, I asked if he was familiar with our beliefs and he said,"No but can you sit down with me and tell me" So i sat down with them and taught them the restoration. When he heard the 1st vision, he felt the spirit so strongly his eyes started to lighten up. I gave him a Book of Mormon and he insisted on paying me for it, when I told him it was free he was sooo grateful. He knew how precious this Book was, he was so touched he reassured us he would read it and he really wanted to learn more of what we shared. He was just filled with the light of Christ.

This experience along with finishing the Book of Mormon this week reminded me how precious the Book of Mormon truly is. It is the keystone to our religion. It contains the fullness of the Gospel of our Savior Jesus Christ. It is a witness that God loves all his children and continues to call prophets. This past couple months reading it, I have come closer to my Savior. Understanding the role of his atonement in my life, and the lives of those I teach. I felt his love and gained a deeper understanding of him through each page. He knows me personally and is in the very detail of my life everyday. Our Heavenly Father is so eager to bless us as he was of the people in those days. It is precious.
I got 2 sweet surprises this week! On Friday Aunt Diann came with baby Josh and some of the girls! I finally got to meet him, o my goshhh he is sooo  stinkin cute! It was so good to see them! I freaked out when I got a text saying that she was here!  Such a sweet surprise. Then on Sunday, I saw Hayley for a little bit.... who is now engaged! O my goshhhh Where
Love my Fox Cousins and Aunt DiAnn!
did the time go, It feels like we were at stake dances being each others wingmans and bumping into the cute guys. lolz. Just photo shop Brooke, Jacquelyn and I into the wedding pictures!

We also got reassigned to Beehive House for a couple of days a week. The summer is so busy!
Welp That sums up my week! Hope everyone is loving life. This week I will be studying the Gospels in the New Testament and Jesus the Christ with all the free time I have!
Much love,
Sister Sughroue

Week #46 - July 14th, 2015

Sister Sughroue &
Sister Eging
Saying goodbye to
President & Sister Wilson
President Packer's
Funeral
Sister Sughroue &
Sister Skaggs
Hello!
I am back at Temple Square! So great to see the Temple everyday again, its so beautiful! Filled with  Asians, selfie sticks and chinese men creeping up behind us to take pictures with the blonde americans hahaha.  With my new Companion Sister Eging, straight out of the MTC!!!! Full of that Greenie Fire! She is from Centerville Virginia which is pretty close Woodbridge where I was serving outbound. I should have just brought her back with me! hahaha. She is awesome and already an amazing missionary, I feel so blessed to be her Trainer! She went to BYU provo for a year before, is so much fun and hard working! We are going to have a great time together and have already seen many miracles. I am in the East 1 Zone and Sister Skaggs (from Temecula)  is my District Leader hahaha! Crazyyyy i just keep following her in the mission! When I introduced my self in District Meeting I said "Hi Im Sister Sughroue from Temecula and I went to the better Highschool" hahahaha. I've only been back on the square for a week and have already run into 2 families I know from home...... I think serving in Virginia was the longest break I was going to get from that. hahah Just kidding I love it!
Last week on Tuesday I went on a short Exchange  with sister Ketchum my Sister Training Leader before I left for Richmond. It was fun we taught some lessons and just got to soak in my last few hours in Woodbridge! Then a Senior couple drove me down to the mission home where we had interviews with President Wilson and a small Testimony meeting. I am going to miss the Wilsons so much, They are so amazing!!!! We spent the night there and left in the morning for the airport, our flight was suppose to leave at 9:35am but was delayed till about 1pm and then our layover was pushed back.... so we basically spent the whole day in the airport. Finally got into SLC around 7. Sister Polanco and Worthen surprised me by picking me up at the airport (I was suppose to take the trax back) and I screamed I was so excited! It was funny there was a big group of missionaries going home with their families cheering and crying and I just ran over to my favorite sisters and screamed hahah! O and Quintin L. Cook was riding first class in my flight! I walked by and said Hi like 3 times but he didn't hear me because he was talking to his wife.... fail. anyways it was still cool to see him! He was wearing a goofy hat, probably to try to disguise himself. hahaha. Anyways got back to Temple Square and met my new companion Sister Eging!!!! And was just greeted by all the amazing sisters here... its like a Temple Square family!
On Friday we got tickets to the Funeral of Boyd K. Packer. It was a very special experience
to be there and hear the words of his family and our beloved Prophet. The spirit was so strong as we remembered this
Brighton's Girls Camp
loved man and the life he dedicated in the service of our God. We sat on the balcony right up by the Choir so we were really close to the Prophet. Right after that we all changed into Jeans and got on a bus heading to Brighton Girls Camp! We got to go so all the international Sisters could experience girls camp activities! So we repelled, and Zip lined and did bonding activities it was so much fun!
Being back from outbound with a new Greenie we basically had no teaching pool but we saw great miracles this week. On Saturday we set a goal to find 3 solid new investigators, we set out with faith and prayed all day we could accomplish this and we did! One was a couple and the other was a young man whose girlfriend is a member! Which is perfectttt.  Then on Sunday right before music and the spoken word we met Carlos. He basically just fell into our hands, he asked us if he could give us all his information! That never happens! He use to meet with missionaries years ago, and after coming to Temple Square felt the spirit so strongly he knew he needed this. We are so excited to be teaching him!  Sunday some of my favorite Temple Square R.M.'s came back for a visit! (I'll send a picture)! Monday we spent
The Wallwork Family
most of the day covering in the Beehive house which was interesting because we don't serve there but they needed us so we did out best ahahaha. I learned alot! And we found an awesome family to teach who was just cried through out all of the Gods plan presentation, they were so touched that our Families can be together forever. How great is my calling! I love being a missionary!
Have a good week!
Much Love,

Week #45 - July 6th, 2015

Hello!
Sister Hilton &
Sister Sughroue

Sister Thornley Sister Sughroue
My last week in Virginia was a good one! I served in Dale City which is the neighboring city to Woodbridge (kind of like Temecula and Murrietta). It is a super nice area with big suburban homes and lots of military family. I was Sister Thornley from Farmington, Utah who just finished her first transfer. President Poulsen emailed me and asked me to train a new missionary from the MTC when I get back on Wednesday. So thats exciting! It was kind of fun to "train" Sister Thornley this past week. Grateful that he and the Lord has put their trust in me to fulfill this calling.
On Monday Sister Kellogg and I went and explored Downtown Occuquan and Tuesday I drove 5 minutes to my new area hahaha. Even though I only served in Dale City for a week, I definitely saw the Lords hand in our work and grew to love the people I met. We spent most of our time  getting in touch with Less actives and investigators in the Elders area, because they took the Elders out last transfer and now the Sisters are responsible for the whole ward. We were busy with work and the Lord placed many special people in our path. I hope the Sisters are able to teach them after I
leave!

Chamberlain Family
4th of July Parade
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! I am so grateful that we live in a country with religious freedom that allowed the gospel to be restored and for us to live it! We spent the morning marching in a parade with our District, A few wards got together and made a float. Members came and we wore Mormon helping hand vests, passed out candy and mormon.org cards! It was way fun! The Elders stood in Front with a Banner for the Church and we were able to just march along and street contact for 2+ miles! I'll include pictures (I think alot are on the Dale City ward FB page). I practiced my princess wave and think I got it down pretty good. Great exposure for the Church, and It was fun to march along with the amazing members out here! After they had fair food and a member bought us BBQ and fried oreos....Yesss the fried oreo was delicious and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! hahaha Sister Thornley spent the day visiting investigators and formers to get in contact with them.... not to many people like missionaries knocking on the door when they are drinking a beer with a bunch of family over we soon realized hahaha. We got a fourth of July Burger at the Halls home for dinner.... so it was pretty good 4th afterall.

Okay this is random but super cool. Everyone here works for the government or is in the military. The Halls are a young couple in the Ward and we had dinner with Them on Friday and they fed us the burgers on saturday. The cool part is that they both work for the FBI!!! Sister Hall is a white collar Agent, she is such a boss. They just told us some crazy stories and
Bringhurst Family
answered our questions over dinner. She basically does exactly what the show "White Collar" is. It made me want to be an FBI agent for like 2 days and then I realized there is no way I could do that in real life. haha. We joked around we would help her catch this guy she is looking for her by tracting, and she could come with us as a missionary in disguise. She loved the idea, so we are now on the lookout for him. hahaha jk.

It was sad to hear about the passing of Elder Packer. I am grateful for these men who are truly called of God and dedicate their life in the Lords service. It will be a special experience to back at Temple Square for his funeral on Friday.

Downtown Occuquan
Tomorrow I drive down to Richmond spent the night in the mission home and then leave for Temple Square wednesday morning. I dont know when my next Pday, it could be back to anyday now. Virginia will always have a special place in my heart, I learned so much out here, grew to love all the people and came closer to my Savior. I know that this is his work, and I'll go where he needs me. I know there is great work to be done back on Temple Square and I will be his servant.

I think thats about it!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Love you all Lots!

Week #44 - June 29th, 2015

Hello Everyone!

Sister Sughroue
Washington DC Temple
Richmond Virginia Mission
Departing Missionaries June 2015
On Saturday we got Transfer Calls and I found out I am being transferred for my last week here, to follow up train another Sister until the new Sister from Temple Square gets here, because our transfers are off by one week. Sister Kellogg and I were completely Surprised! We had thought there was no way I was leaving for just one week! Sister Kellogg is training though so I am excited for her! President Wilson is so funny when he called he said, "Don't hate me....  but will you?...." Of coarse I said yes, I just think its funny because he knows how much I love this area and it will be sad to leave it just one week before I leave and go to a random area. But where ever the Lord needs me I will go, I expect to see his hand in our work my last week here and I will make the best of it! So Tomorrow I will go to my new area with my new companion, I am going to miss Sister Kellogg so much. But we think I might stay in the zone so I can say goodbye before I leave.

We had a very eventful week, so I will send tons of pictures!
Sister Missionaries
P-Day Fun
On monday we had Zone P-day and played Umpa, I am a pro now!

VCU Campus
with Sister Sprunt
Tuesday President Wilson gave me special permission to go "Return and Report" in Richmond. It is for trainees and there trainers, where they have 2 hrs to exchange and  go contact on VCU campus. And I got to go!!!! It was so much fun to street contact, we hit it hard for the 2 hrs we had talking with everyone. Awesome to be on a college campus because their are people everywhere and they are your age so its really easy to approach them! I was with Hermana Sprunt, we were talking with lots of people but not having anyone super interested so we decided to find someone sitting down not in a rush. We started to walk and saw this man on a bench down the street. We met and ended up teaching the first lesson to Thomas, he's in his 30's. He was so receptive and already had a Book of Mormon. We put him on date for a few weeks out and referred him too the missionaries in that area. Miracle!

Wednesday we had an amazing lesson with Sajevonne, a new investigator! We met her tracting last sunday. We felt really
The Zeyala Family
strong we needed to knock these  houses at the end of the street, and no one was home, the last door we knocked was her! She was so nice and excited to see us. When we left Sister Kellogg and I were confused why she was so happy  to see us, we aren't use to that reaction! lol. She is so prepared and is seriously the happiest person  I have ever taught, She just has this glow and spirit about her! We gave her a chapter to read and as soon as we left she started to read it! She will be getting baptized!

Sister Sughroue at the
Lincoln Memorial
Sister Gauch &
Sister Sughroue
Thursday I went to the the D.C. Temple with all the departing missionaries. President and Sister Wilson drove us all up in big vans. We were able to do a session, which was amazing. There is no place more HEavenly on earth then the Temple.  Then we had lunch at the visitor center, then went for a drive around tour through D.C. we got to see the white house, capitol, and everything from the car window. Then we stopped at the
Our investigator Evelyn
and her son Bradley
Lincoln monument, ran up the stairs took a picture and ran back down! hahaha a quick tour!

The Bringhurst Family
We go and sing to these sweet sisters
every Sunday
The Smith Family
Friday we had a Zone meeting. Then went and did Personal Progress with the Chamberlains, to recent convert teenage girls. Saturday it stormed ALL DAY, I'm surprised it didn't flood! We had dinner at Sister Guach, out stake RS president in our ward, who we have gotten so close with and love so much. She fed us every week that I was here and I am going to miss her!  Then we got the call, that I'm leaving, so Sunday was full of goodbyes at church, a fireside,  and driving around after to see members and investigators. I love the woodbridge 2nd ward and they will always have a place in my heart! I am so grateful for the Bringhursts in our ward who were our Ward mission Leader. I have never met such a family so selfless and misisonary minded! Hope to be members like them!

Well today Sister Kellogg and I are going to make the best of our last day together! We have a few more people to say bye too then we are having FHE at the Bringhursts! Hope you all have a great

Week #43 - June 22nd, 2015

Hello(:

Nothing huge happened this week so I guess I'll just give you some highlights!
Sister's P-Day
On monday we went to Leeslyvania Beach for Sisters Pday and had a picnic, which was fun besides the crazy humidity and heat. On Tuesday we spent most of our day finding, and weren't having much luck so we decided too just drive and turn when we felt like it to see where we ended up. We found a little nieghborhood of town homes and felt really good about being there. We only planned to be there for about 20 minutes, but after talking to a few people we both felt that we should stay. We ended up tracting the whole thing and met a lot of people! This was a miracle!!! We know have some potentials to work with. The spirit truly directed us there. When one lady answered the door she started crying, because she was so happy we came and feels that God sent us to strengthen her. She is catholic and has a big family, we  plan to go back and share the gospel with all of them!

Thursday we had a Tri Zone Meeting with Elder Perkins from the Seventy, it pretty much lasted all day and was AMAZING. Talk about a spiritual feast, I just soaked it all in! I
Tri-Zone Meeting
learned so much and they trained on so much I can't even begin to tell everything. One of my favorite things he had us do was write down 2 questions at the beginning, by coming to a meeting with questions it shows you want to receive spritual revelation and you will be more receptive to answers! And my 2 questions were answered! If you think about it, almost all revelation in Scriptures started with a question! Nephi, Mary, Brother of Jared, Joseph Smith and so many more! Maybe try it out for church, you will see what a difference it makes!

Oh the bugs!
On Friday we made cookies with a member to take to our investigators and people we teach! We then had a lesson with Eric. When we first got there he was tired and kind of not in the best mood, we started to teach the Restoration and he was not all that into it. Then we started teaching about Joseph Smith and recited the 1st vision. And bore our testimonies...After that he changed! The spirit was so strong that it woke him up and he became super engaged and wanted to really know more about him and the Book of Mormon. The power of the experience Joseph Smiths experience is so real!
This weekend was stake conference.

Hermana Sprunt & Sister Sughroue
On Sister's P-Day
Saturday at the adult session our ward council acted out a mock example one to everyone, Luckily Bishop didn't call on me so I didn't say anything. hahah. Sunday Eveyln didn't come to church. Which is a huge bummer because now she can't get baptized before I leave on July 8th :( I will just have to skype it at temple Square. But we know she will still be baptized!

Well thats about it. Just working hard out here in Woodbridge. Staying hydrated and getting eaten alive by bugs. But don't worry I love it! haha

Love,
Sister Sughroue

Week #42 - June 15th, 2015

Hello (:

Sister Sughroue & Sister Johns
This week we had Sisters meeting in Richmond for all the sisters in our mission! It was a whole day  filled with trainings on how we can serve with all our Heart, Might, Mind and Strength! (D&C 4). It was a day we were able to be spiritually strengthened and edified, which is exactly what sisters need.... President Wilson totally gets it. hahah. There was lunch and a huge clothing exchange, where every one just comes with clothes they don't want and you can pick ones you like!

We found a new investigator this week, who is media head quarters referral. He is from Africa, and after going through a traumatic experience is really prepared for the gospel, and searching for something to fill his heart. It was funny to be on the other side of these referrals, because being at Temple  Square usually we are the ones taking the calls/chats sending these referrals out. But nothing beats seeing them in person!

Wednesday I went on Exchange with Sister Ketchum, my Sister Training Leader, in her area! It was fun, the sisters here are awesome and I just love learning from them!

Sister Sughroue's Zone
I am just on top of the world! Our investigator Evelyn came to church yesterday! She came with her 2 year old little boy, who refused to to nursery but he was good in all out classes haha. He is so cute! The members in our ward are awesome, gave her a ride, made her feel so welcomed! She wants to come back too, we are just feel so blessed to be teaching with her. Sister Kellogg and I have been working on making sure everyone knows we love them and care for them, and once we started doing that with Evelyn we saw a huge difference. It's amazing how fast you can grow to love someone you just met. I love her and her little boy and my heart was full sitting by them at church on sunday. As a missionary you just love the people you teach so much you will do anything to help them receive the Gospel because you know how much it will bless their lives. President Wilson shared an insight on a scripture  at Sisters meeting that "Charity is the pure love of Christ" meaning that it is us purely loving our Savior Jesus Christ. And if we purely love him, and his atonement we will just naturally love and have that "charity" for others. I love that! It is so true!

At church on Sunday a youth speaker didn't show up, so Bishop asked me right before to share my testimony. I ended up shedding a few tears because I just love the Woodbridge 2nd ward so much, it truly was an answer to my prayers and I only have a short time left. :( Anyways,  I shared 2 Nephi 5:27, "And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of
Sister Yost & Sister Sughroue
happiness." And the reason the Nephites at this time were living happily is because they built a temple and were living righteously! Its that simple, if we want to live in true and lasting happiness we just need to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and and our loving Father in Heaven is so eager to bless us and guide us along the way. I am so grateful for this Gospel and the happiness it really does bring me. The more I understand the gospel and come closer to my Savior the happier I am.
Hope you have all have an amazing week!

Much love,
Sister Sughroue
